Web of Science: A1979JD13300005International audienceThe spatial structure of stratified media is measured by the interferometric method with the resolution of 100 microns
Determination of integral characteristics of the functions of sub-micron aerosol fraction size distribution density using optical measurements data
Web of Science: A1984TH03200006International audienceA simple method is described which may be used to determine the values of integral functionals from the functions of disperse media size distribution density with the measured characteristics of scattered radiation. The theory of the method is given, its potentialities illustrated by numerical experiment
Accounting for aerosol extinction in the interpretation of data on lidar sensing of the stratosphere
International audienceWe propose a method for calculating the ratio R of the indices of the total and the molecular backscattering of the stratosphere from lidar sensing data. The algorithm accounts for aerosol extinction. The algorithm is based on the a priori definition of the lidar ratio profile and does not need large expenditures of computer resources and can be realized a microcomputer. An example of processing of real errors caused by neglecting the experimental data is given. The errors caused by neglecting the aerosol extinction are discussed
Optical characteristics of the stratosphere after the Mt. Pinatubo eruption as assessed from spectral polarization lidar measurements
International audienceSome results of experimental investigations using method of spectral polarization laser sensing of the stratospheric aerosol layer (SAL) after the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo volcano are given. Time dependence of the optical depth at 532 nm is analyzed. Scattering ratio profiles, the profiles of aerosol backscattering depolarization ratio as well as the results of lidar observations of the stratosphere at 532 and 1064 nm are presented. Some peculiarities in the formation of microphysical parameters of SAL due to Mt. Pinatubo eruption are discussed
Statistical-analysis of the laser remote-sensing data on stratospheric aerosol
Web of Science: A1993LP63600011International audienceStatistical characteristics of backscattering profiles of stratospheric aerosol layer are studied. Correlation matrix, eigenvalues and eigenvectors of correlation matrix of backscattering ratio are presented. The analysis of the data obtained shows that the method of decomposition into natural orthogonal components permits to formulate a parametric model describing backscattering of stratospheric aerosol and reveal characteristic altitude ranges in the atmosphere
The study of the aerosol optical characteristics and microstructure using the multiwavelength lidar technique
Web of Science: A1986D894600004International audienceResults are presented of measurements af aerosol backscattering coefficient made by multiwavelength lidar technique in the lower atmosphere. The experimental data obtained are compared with the models of atmospheric aerosol
Optimized linear estimate of integral parameters of multicomponent aerosol.
International audienceThe method for reconstructing the disperse medium characteristics by means of linear functions of measured parameters in application to studies of the atmospheric aerosol is proposed. The optimization problem with restrictions in the form of the system of linear equations is formulated to find the coefficients of linear regression. The optimization criterion and additional a priori information are chosen with respect to the peculiarities of formation and existence of real atmospheric aerosol related to its multifractional structure. Application of the method to data processing of multifrequency laser sounding of the atmosphere is considered. Some results of numerical calculations are presented
The variations of microstructure and statistical characteristics of the aerosol backscattering index in the atmospheric boundary layer from multiwave sounding data
Web of Science: A1989AK06900006International audienceThe results of the statistical analysis of spectral dependences of the aerosol backscattering index are given. Vertical variations of the optical and microphysical characteristics are investigated
Dynamics of optical parameters of the stratospheric aerosol layer following the eruption of Mt Pinatubo from lidar data
Web of Science: A1997XF40200005International audienceAn experimental investigation of the dynamics of stratospheric aerosol layer following the eruption of Mt, Pinatubo has been carried out at the lidar station of the Stepanov Institute of Physics, Belarussian Academy of Sciences (Minsk, 53.85 degrees N, 27.5 degrees E). Stable regularities in the behavior of the stratospheric aerosol layer following the eruption of Mt. Pinatubo are established from a statistical analysis of vertical profiles of the total-to-Rayleigh backscattering ratio, These profiles are classified and their dynamics are investigated in terms of the profile classes
